Zoldonat Zoledronic Acid

Zoldonat contains zoledronic acid and belongs to a class of medications called bisphosphonates.

Indication:
zoldonat is used to treat osteoporosis in women and men. Zoldonat is also used to treat paget's disease of bone. zoldonat may be used to treat bone disease in patients who have cancer.

Mechanism of Action:
Zoldonat works by decreasing the breakdown of the bone and increasing the bone density (thickness). This reduces the amount of calcium that is released into the blood from bones and helps to lower your blood calcium level.

Supplied as:zoldonat is available as 4mg single dose vial.

Overdose:symptoms of overdose associated with zoldonat may include dizziness; decreased urination; fast, pounding or irregular heartbeat; mental or mood changes; muscle cramps; numbness or tingling, (especially around the mouth), fever, muscle weakness, depression, difficulty walking, seizures, confusion, shortness of breath, sudden tightening of muscles, numbness, or tingling in fingers or toes; double vision & difficulty in speaking.

Precautions & Warnings:

Zoldonat should not be taken without consulting your doctor if you have kidney disease, liver disease, cardiac disease, an electrolyte imbalance, asthma, hypocalcemia, hypoparathyroidism, or if you had undergone thyroid or parathyroid surgery. Do not take zoldonat if you are sensitive to aspirin because it may increase the risk of bronchoconstriction. Do not take zoldonat if you are allergic to it or to any ingredient in zoldonat, the allergic symptoms are serious such as jawbone problems (osteonecrosis), blood in the urine, swelling, numbing, and pain or a loose tooth.

Do not take zoldonat without consulting your doctor if you are pregnant. It is not known whether zoldonat passes into breast milk. Do not take zoldonat without consulting your doctor if you are breast feeding a baby.

Drug interactions:


The following drugs may interact with zoldonat:

the risk of zoldonat side effects may be increased by loop diuretics (bumetanide or furosemide), and aminoglycoside antibiotics (gentamicin, tobramycin) because they may lead to hypocalcaemia.

The risk of zoldonat side effects may be increased by mineral supplements (calcium, magnesium, or phosphorus).

Serious risk of renal dysfunction may occur with nephrotoxic agents.


Side effects
:

The side effects associated with zoldonat are severe allergic reactions such as nausea, vomiting, irritation or swelling at the injection site, fever, chills , rash, itching, dizziness, headache, weakness, tiredness, trouble sleeping, shortness of breath, burning or painful urination, mood changes (e. G. , agitation, anxiety, confusion), swelling of the legs or mouth, vision problems (conjunctivitis), seizures, stupor, ankles, or hands, jaw tightness, electrolyte disturbances, anaemia, dyspnoea, chest pain, cough, excessive sweating, hypertension, and muscle and joint aches or pains etc.
