It is for treating multiple myeloma and is also useful in curing mantle cell lymphoma.

Bortenat is formulated by using bortezomib and belongs to a class of medicines known as Antineoplastic agents. It is for treating multiple myeloma and is also useful in curing mantle cell lymphoma. The medicine is very effective in these disease as it straightaway reacts with certain proteins in the body to arrest the growth of cancer cells.

Available in 2mg & 3.5mg single use vial.

Overdose

Weakness, unusual bruising or bleeding, blurred vision, pinpoint red spots on your
skin, and fainting.

Precautions and Warnings
"

Doctor consultation required if the patient has diabetes, liver disease, or is on dialysis, a bleeding or blood clotting disorder, a low level of platelets or white or red blood cells, heart disease, congestive heart failure, herpes or a history of shingles, high or low blood pressure, or nerve problems such as burning, numbness, pain, or tingly feeling
  • Patients are advised not to take any immunization during this period, without doctor’s consent
  • Drug Interactions
  • Amiodarone
  • Cimetidine
  • Carbamazepine
  • Dexamethasone
  • Phenytoin
  • Rifabutin, rifampin, rifapentine
  • St. John's wort
  • Antibiotics (clarithromycin, erythromycin or telithromycin)

Antifungal medications (clotrimazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, or voriconazole) antidepressants (nefazodone, paroxetine , or sertraline)

Barbiturates (amobarbital, butabarbital, mephobarbital, secobarbital, or Phenobarbital) diabetes medications taken orally (the dose may need to be adjusted when the treatment with Bortenat starts)

HIV/AIDS medicines such as atazanavir, delavirdine, efavirenz, etravirine, indinavir, nelfinavir, nevirapine, saquinavir, or ritonavir

Medicines for treating narcolepsy such as armodafanil or modafanil

Seizure medication such as carbamazepine, felbamate, oxcarbazepine, or phenytoin, or primidone

Side Effects:


  • Dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea and vomiting
  • Loss of appetite, diarrhea and constipation
  • Tiredness, weakness, or blurred vision may occur
  • Bruising or bleeding
  • Tingling/numbness/pain/burning feeling of the hands or feet (peripheral neuropathy)
  • Fever, chills, or persistent sore throat, stomach pain, black stools and coffee-ground vomit
  • Trouble breathing, swelling or pain in the lower legs, fast/irregular heartbeat and chest pain
  • Slurred speech, mental/mood changes, seizures and change in the amount of urine
